History

blueprint Shoalhaven was initiated as a result of two factors.  Firstly, the Shoalhaven Economic Development Strategy ‘Shoalhaven – an enterprising alternative’ – released in mid 2005 sought to have the various industry sectors within the Shoalhaven examined to determine their capability and future growth potential.  Secondly, an air of uncertainty had arisen in late 2005 as a result of the announced imminent closure of several prominent manufacturing enterprises in 2006.  Rather than focus upon economic losses stemming from the closures a project to examine key wealth generating sectors within the Shoalhaven economy was instigated by the Federal Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash MP, and was enthusiastically supported by the three levels of government in the shape of blueprint Shoalhaven.

blueprint Shoalhaven has been a series of mini summits during the first half of 2006 and culminated in a major summit bringing together the findings of the four earlier events.

The mini summits addressed four key areas:

                        TOURISM
                        HEALTH/AGEING/PUBLIC SERVICE
                        GENERAL INDUSTRY
                        DEFENCE

The blueprint Shoalhaven mini summits traversed a variety of subjects within the bounds of the four broad sections.

The mini summits brought together people with expertise in each field, along with representatives of the three levels of government, business & industry and the community.

Joanna Gash, MP for Gilmore, sought funding from the Prime Minister for an Executive Officer to deliver from the blueprint Action Plan.

On 31 July 2007, Rhonda McGuire commenced the two year federally funded and local government supported position of Executive Officer.  Team Leaders from the mini Summits now form the blueprint Shoalhaven Committee.

Shoalhaven Government and Industry Leaders have formed the blueprint Shoalhaven Leaders Forum to facilitate action across all levels of government and industry.
